If You Could Blog Forever, What Would You Blog For?

No matter what your reasons for blogging may be, just keep blogging!

What are You Blogging for?

All blogger would agree that we all have our own share of ups and downs in blogging and continually strive to overcome all these struggles and obstacles that come our way.

In my post entitled The Struggles and Obstacles in Blogging, co-bloggers like Roel Abatayao of Bloggista, Tim Samaniego of EveryPesoCounts, Star Villanueva (CNB - Crush ng mga Bloggers) and our contest host CoolBuster (even shared a few insights) all agreed that even successful bloggers are not exempted from these obstacles. However, the most successful ones are those that rise triumphant against all these hindrances that try to baffle them.

If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up.
Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. - Michael Jordan

When I started blogging in 2008, I never really thought I would stick around. I thought it's just one of those acts that I would eventually abandon (just like the same thought I had when I tried to save in my thrift bank and eventually prove to myself that I could continually save and actually saved enough to pay spot down for our rent-to-own house!)

Just like saving, blogging is a step-by-step process. You don't just get rich overnight. You can't just publish an article and expect thousands of people visiting your site in a heartbeat. No matter what your reasons may be - whether you're doing it to make money online, to network with similar-minded individuals or just to share your experiences, it is very important that you keep doing what you've started.

Getting started with blogging may be easy for some while others may struggle in it. For me, getting started was never as difficult as keep on going. Everyday, I would remind myself of the reasons why I started it in the first place and the things that I am enjoying for having the courage to do it.

Below are just some of the reasons why I started blogging, why I still blog and will always be.

Blogging for Money

When I started blogging in 2008 with my Everything Famous or celebrity news blog, I wanted to be like Perez Hilton. (alright alright easy folks, I know I couldn't be as famous as he is but at least in the Philippines, right?!). He's included in the Top 40 under 40 web millionaires (with a net worth of $3 million - as of 2007) and he's hanging out with the Hollywood stars.

Now that I've gotten to my senses and realized that I couldn't fully be as successful as he is but you get the idea. There are lots of bloggers who are making money from their blogs such as Carl Ocab, Abe Olandres, Fitz Villafuerte and many other famous bloggers who are reaping the rewards of their hard work and established their expertise in their specific niches. Here's a complete list of people who are making money online utilizing their blogs as a vehicle to success.

Be sure to check our the comment section as my all-time favorite blogger, Penelope Trunk, went out of her way and left some really nice comment! *wink *wink

Blogging for Networking

Now that brings us to the next reason why me and other bloggers may be blogging and always will -- Connection.

I always believe that my network is my net worth. Thus, I take pride of the connection that I have established both on Twitter and Facebook. I am not awesome, the people in my network are. Through blogging, I was able to meet with similar-minded individuals who have helped me learn more about social media, PR, advertising, internet marketing, tinkering with my blog and lots of other things.

When I joined the World's Coolest Intern competition by the Standard Chartered Bank, one of the 3 reasons that I gave why they should hire me was because I have the best connection both online and offline

True enough.

A few days before the end of the contest, we were given the task to have a blogger to write about us and why we deserve to win. I may not have won the title of the World's Coolest Intern but I was given an honorable mention for Blogtasticness, with incredible 7 blogs supported me within 24 hours!!!

Standard Chartered Bank Breeze Team proclaiming my honorable mention as Blogtastic awesome 7 blogs supported me within 24 hours - no, I didn't pay these bloggers any penny! haha

I never really thought that such a great contest could put together the best minds in the social media to collaborate. Most of the supports that I got came to me as a surprise. Some of my most admired local and international bloggers told the Standard Chartered Breeze team by dedicating fun blog posts as to why I deserve the title.

Being a personal finance fanatic, I was really stoked when TheSkinnyOn dedicated a blog post for me showing their support for me on the said contest.

Then our very own Anton Diaz of OurAwesomePlanet included me 8 Most Admired Upcoming Filipina Bloggers. Manuel Viloria of Viloria.net gave a cool meaning to my name and previous clients gave their support and prove that "you shall know them by their past". It was truly a heartwarming time of my blogging life as I got to be noticed by the people that I look up to. Check out these nice and sweet words from the people that I admire and happen to have supported me during the campaign.

Trust me, I could go on the whole night giving you links to the posts that truly uplifted me during the contest days but this is not what this post is all about.

It's more about why newbies should get started blogging in order for them to explore the many benefits and wonderful experiences one could gain from sharing their thoughts to the world.

“A blog is merely a tool that lets you do anything from change the world to share your shopping list.” – Author Unknown

Now when all is said and done and you've setup a blog, does everything end there? No. It's just the start of a wonderful journey.

“A blog is in many ways a continuing conversation.” – Andrew Sullivan

Game Plan for 2011?

For 2011, I have started yet another blog.

Yet it's not just another blog.

It contains not just my interest in saving in investing but it's more about sharing a part of me to the world with the hopes of inspiring people and how to face each day with an optimism and how to gather stones to success. I didn't put any advertising or monetizing codes in the said blog because I want to keep a place wherein creativity and optimism meets reality.

In less than 3 months of its establishment, I keep getting emails from people who happen to find value in what I share. For me, it's more important than my goal of gaining money online or fame a couple of years ago when I wanted to be as famous as Perez Hilton.

If I could blog forever, my goal for 2011 and beyond, is to simply be remembered for the positive outlook I have despite how gloomy the road maybe sometimes.

And I hope to make the world a much better place, not just exist.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose. - Robert Byrne
